Wild About Art

Program Outline

Students will explore mixed media art though painting and softolium printmaking. They will first review primary and secondary colours with the use of acrylic paint and will talk about how these same colours can be catagorized as either warm or cool. Participants will be introduced to the practices of tinting and shading, learning how to properly mix colours into white and especially black paint.  There will also be an emphasis on refining their fine motor skills with paint and paintbrushes. Students will then use their completed paintings as a backdrop for softolium printing with a 'wild' animal image of their choosing.

"Sean is a passionate, engaging, interactive, and curriculum-based art teacher. I am particularly impressed with how his programs closely link with the curriculum, he fulfills this in a FUN manner as well. Children are left feeling inspired, creative, and that ART is a form of self expression and discovery. Personally, I have had Sean visit my classroom the past two years when I taught Grade 5-6, and 4, and this year, I look forward to having him come in to do art in my Grade One room! He is versatile and adapts his art forms to suit every grade from K-8. I highly recommend having Sean visit your classroom today!"
